Passenger transport The OeBB carries 580'000 passengers per year and connects to the SBB network in Oensingen, with direct connections to Zurich - Konstanz and Biel. From Balsthal, 3 post bus lines lead to Mümliswil/Ramiswil, Langenbruck/Waldenburg and Welschenrohr/Gänsbrunnen. Approximately 20,000 people live in the OeBB catchment area. Timetable: The OeBB runs daily at ½ hour intervals from 05.31 to 19.55. From 20.00 o'clock the connections Oensingen-Balsthal are led with the post bus. Also, from Monday to Friday during rush hours, direct buses run from Gänsbrunnen and Ramiswil to Oensingen and vice versa. The OeBB is the feeder to the Thal Nature Park and provides access to a beautiful hiking and recreation area. Information about the Thal Nature Park on:

**Freight traffic OeBB transports about 150'000 tons of goods per year. The main customer is Marti Tunnelbau AG in Klus, which manufactures lining segments for road and rail tunnels. At the KEBAG reloading station, waste from the surrounding communities is loaded from road to rail and transported to Zuchwil. Other important customers are: SABER Swiss Quality Paper AG and shippers of wood and wood chips.

Nostalgia trips The following vehicles are currently in service with OeBB:

• Steam locomotive: Eb 2/4 "JS 35" vintage 1891 and Ed 2 x 2/2 "Mallet" No. 196 vintage 1893 on loan from SBB Historic.
• Steam locomotive: E 3/3 No. 1, year 1909 and E 3/3 No. 2, year 1899.
• 3 saloon and dining cars for max. 150 persons.
• The Red Arrow "RBe 2/4" with vintage 1938.

With the Red Arrow, extra trips can be made on the entire standard gauge network in Switzerland. The steam trains are ideal for an aperitif trip followed by a meal in a dining car in Balsthal.
